The Characters hub catalogs every playable hero in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave on Nintendo Switch 2. Each profile covers base stats, growth rates, class lines, recruitment conditions, romance options and unique Heroic Gifts. The launch roster is anchored by four marquee heroes — Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda — joined by hidden fifth protagonist Eshmel, who unlocks after the five-year time skip and serves as the canonical closure for the White Bird route. Support conversations advance rank from C to S and unlock S-rank romance scenes. Bond conversations with allies grant stat bonuses that scale with conversation depth and route completion. Romance-locked support ranks carry into the time-skip phase, so investing in early chapters pays double. Crest synergies stack with the weapon triangle: Sword Crest + Sword = +25% damage, while Tome Crest + Sage class unlocks double-tap Tome Arts. Advantages

A well-built party exploits elemental weapon triangles plus Crest pairings. Optimizing Heroic Gifts and Bond conversations is the difference between clearing the Heroic Games and getting one-shot in the White Bird route switch. The party-wide +10 hit/+5 damage triangle bonus stacks with Crest-specific passives, making mixed weapon compositions devastating. Eshmel's Hidden Quest Crest unlocks a tier-five Blaze Art that clears Heroic Games bosses in two turns. Crest stacking scales with route completion — the White Bird canon unlocks +2 to all stats. Bond conversations give 1.5× damage multipliers on Gambit calls. The Heroic Games arena leaderboard awards exclusive cosmetics to top 100 players, with Cai's Sword Crest as the meta carry for Hard mode.

Challenges

Most units fall off if you ignore Intermediate seals. Eshmel and Theodora require investment before rewards. Romance-locked conversations miss the September 17 launch window if you bail from the Dagdan capital early. The five-year time skip happens at Chapter 14, so any character not recruited by then becomes unavailable until Chapter 15, and certain NPCs vanish entirely. Bad Ending triggers if Cai's father rescue flag is missed. The Bad Ending path skips the canon ending and locks Eshmel behind New Game+. Romance-locked NPCs vanish if you miss the White Bird inn dialogue. Cai's father rescue flag expires at Chapter 14, so save before the time skip to preserve the canon branch.
